President Erdogan poured water on the NATO fire
Vita gazette – As the US-EU, NATO and Russia conflict accelerated the steps that will lead the world to World War III over Ukraine, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan poured cold water on NATO’s fire. Erdogan has announced that he is not looking favourably on the accession of Sweden and Finland, who want to be admitted to NATO.
Asked by journalists, President Erdoğan expressed his views on the accession of Finland and Sweden to NATO. And he said both countries are absolutely opposed to joining NATO.
“At the moment we are following the developments regarding Sweden and Finland, but we are not in a positive mood. Because they have previously made a mistake on NATO with Greece, the previous administrations and you know the attitude that Greece has had with the NATO behind it. As Turkey, we do not want to make a second mistake in this regard. Furthermore, the Scandinavian countries, unfortunately, are almost like the pensions of terrorist organizations. PKK and DHKPC are nested in Sweden and the Netherlands. And I go even further, they too take part in their parliaments. At this point, it is not possible for us to have a positive vision”.
Green light!
In order to be part of NATO, a country must be authorized by its Parliament before submitting the formal application. In addition to having to be a state in Europe, there are also several political and social requirements that must be presented as proof of being a free democracy. But acceptance to NATO is subject to the green light from all member countries, as stated in Article 10 of the statute.
