After the Municipality of Paris gave the scooter companies time until the beginning of September, the last 15 thousand scooters in the city were removed from the streets.
With the removal of rental scooters, which have long been the target of controversy, Paris became the first European capital to ban rental scooters.
Electric rental scooters are banned with 89.03 percent of the votes.
Scooters were first introduced in Paris in 2018. In the referendum held in April on the use of rental scooters, which has been discussed for a long time for safety reasons, the people of Paris, with 89.03 percent of the votes, demanded that the use of electric scooters be banned.
As a result of the referendum, the use of electric scooters was banned on April 2 and announced that the decision would take effect on September 1.
The use of electric scooters was banned due to the referendum, in which only 7.5 percent of the Paris population participated. Approximately 103 thousand 84 people voted in the referendum.
