Poland also bans vehicles with Russian license plates from today

Vita gazette – The sanction decision taken by the European Commission, “Russian citizens will not be able to enter the European Union territory with their private cars for tourism purposes or even for a short time”, is starting to be implemented in Poland as of today.

The European Commission published a statement on September 8, stating that the sanctions imposed by the EU Council against Russia in 2022 also apply to Russian citizens’ cars with Russian license plates, and therefore, Russian citizens can use private vehicles for tourism purposes or even for a short time. He said he could not enter the European Union territory with his cars. Following Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia and Finland, Poland also bans vehicles with Russian license plates from entering the country as of today.

Polish Minister of Internal Affairs and Administration Mariusz Kaminski announced that Warsaw has banned the entry of passenger vehicles registered in Russia into its territory as of today.

“In the context of the publication on September 8 of the European Commission’s recommendations to ban vehicles registered in Russia from entering the EU, the ban on the Polish border will be valid from tomorrow and will come into force from midnight tonight,” Kaminski said.
