Berlin Film Festival:
Golden Bear goes to Spanish “Alcarràs”
Vita gazette – The winners of the 2022 Berlin Film Festival have been announced. The Golden Bear went to Spanish Carla Simon’s film “Alcarràs”, produced by Italian Kino Produzioni. The Silver Bear Grand Jury Prize went to South Korean Hong Sang-soo’s “Novelist”. Paolo Taviani’s “Leonora Addio” won the Fipresci prize.
Alcarras is a story of resistance. The Solè family, which has been in the peach-picking business for generations in the Catalan countryside, is at risk of being evicted to make room for the solar panels.
A novelist takes a long trip to visit a bookstore run by a young colleague with whom she has lost contact.
The Jury of the Federation Internationale de la Presse Cinematographique awarded the prestigious award to the Tuscan master director’s film “Leonora Addio”, on the grounds that “not only melancholy, but also irony, imagination and joy tell us the mysteries of life, death and memory”.
