Emanuela Orlandi and Mirella Gregori:

the yes from the Chamber for the parliamentary commission of inquiry

Vita gazette – The Chamber of Deputies approved the establishment of a parliamentary commission of inquiry into the cases concerning the disappearance of Emanuela Orlandi and Mirella Gregori. The measure now goes to the Senate.

In Italy, the lower house of Parliament, the House of Representatives, has unanimously approved the proposal to set up a commission of inquiry into the fate of the Vatican Emanuela Orlandi and Mirella Gregori, who mysteriously disappeared in 1983 in Rome. Bids had previously been made to set up a commission of inquiry into this matter, but it was always in the first stage.

The bill was approved with 245 votes and no opposition. Before the vote, the hall gave long applause to the family members, who attended the session from the stands of Montecitorio. In the courtroom, all the political forces agreed on the need to set up the bicameral commission of inquiry.

The initiative to shed light on the cases of the two girls, Vatican citizens, who disappeared in Rome in 1983 was presented during a press conference in the Chamber of Deputies by the deputy Roberto Morassut (Pd), the first signatory. Deputy Stefania Ascari (M5S), rapporteur of the report on the Cesaroni case in the Anti-Mafia Commission of the last legislature, and Senator Carlo Calenda (Azione – IV), who took part in the meeting, also supported the birth of the bicameral body.

Emanuela’s brother, Pietro Orlandi, commented on the news with a post on Facebook: “The proposal for the commission passed unanimously, 245 out of 245 in favour. There is a willingness to clarify things. Today I felt the closeness of the institutions, and I must also say the affection because seeing all those present in the hall at the end of the vote stand up and applaud, turning towards the grandstand where we were, struck me, and I admit moved”.
