97th Oscar nominations announced: ‘Emilia Pérez’ is at the top

The films “Emilia Pérez”, “A Complete Unknown”, and “Conclave” were the productions with the most nominations in total. Isabella Rossellini has been nominated for an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for her role in the film Conclave.

The nominees for the Oscar (Academy) Awards from the American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences have been announced. The nominations came after the announcement was delayed twice due to wildfires in the Los Angeles area.

“Emilia Pérez,” which came first in the overall rankings with 13 nominations in total, is a crime musical about a transformed cartel leader. “Emilia Pérez” was followed by “The Brutalist” and “Wicked,” which each received 10 nominations. These three productions and “The Substance” were among the 10 films nominated for the best film award. The list also includes the movies “A Complete Unknown”, “Conclave”, “Anora”, “Dune: Part Two”, “Nickel Boys” and “I’m Still Here”.

Earlier this year, “Emilia Pérez” won four Golden Globes. These include awards for best motion picture (musical or comedy) and best supporting actress performance for Zoe Saldaña. “The Brutalist,” a 215-minute epic production about a Holocaust survivor who emigrated to America after World War II, won the Golden Globe for Best Motion Picture (drama). The film’s leading actor, Adrian Brody, was also awarded a Golden Globe award. Both Saldaña and Brody received nominations in Oscar categories.
