Oscar 2024, Andrea Bocelli and his son Matteo at the ceremony
Vita gazette – Andrea Bocelli and his son Matteo performed at the 96th Oscar ceremony at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles. The father and his son performed a new version of “Time to Say Goodbye” during the In memoriam segment.
Andrea Bocelli made a surprise Sunday night at the 96th Academy Awards with his son Matteo. With over 90 million albums sold, the world-class tenor performed a new version of his signature single, “Time to Say Goodbye”, during the In Memoriam segment.
The song was initially released in 1995 as “Con te Partirò,” which translates to “I will leave with you” in Italian. The following year, Bocelli rerecorded the track with British soprano Sarah Brightman, switching some lyrics to English.
Bocelli reimagined the song with his son Matteo and two-time Oscar-winning composer Hans Zimmer for the Oscars.
Matteo, 26, released his debut album last year and joined his father on stage for Sunday’s performance. The new version of “Goodbye” is available now on streaming platforms.
Interpretive dancers joined Andrea Bocelli and son Matteo Bocelli for a touching “In Memoriam” segment that featured a video montage of late Hollywood icons.
