People who cycle to work in Belgium will be paid

A sound decision for the world has come from Belgium. In Belgium, the bicycle allowance has become compulsory for those who cycle to work. As a result, from 1 May, employees will receive a stipend of 0.27 euros per kilometre from their employer if they cycle to work.

Cycling, one of the essential means to prevent carbon emissions, use less energy and be healthy, has become even more attractive in Belgium. Until now, employers have decided to grant a bicycle allowance in Belgium. Nearly 30% of employers paid employees who used bicycles based on the distance between home and work.

In Belgium, an agreement has been concluded between employers and employee representatives within the National Labor Council. And in Belgium, the bicycle allowance has been made compulsory for those who cycle to work. With the new application, the use of bicycles in the country should become more widespread.

In Belgium, a check of 0.27 euros per kilometre has become mandatory for those who work by bicycle. This allowance will be tax-free. The daily funding for an employee’s bike can be at most 40 kilometres. Therefore, the bicycle allowance will be limited to 10.8 euros per day.
