Christmas in Venice
Vita gazette– A romantic destination for art lovers, Venice needs no introduction. Veneta is in fact known all over the world and is one of the most visited and appreciated tourist destinations. The fairytale city of Venice becomes even more beautiful during the Christmas period. To welcome the holiday period in the best way, Venice dresses up with the clothes for special occasions. Under the flags of light, in the reflection of the flickering candles, we can read on the faces of everyone, young and old, the joy, hope and dreams of Christmas.
The lights and decorations illuminate the streets, squares, with the golden and warm light of the party. The main gateway to Venice lights up, connecting the city of water and the city of land, as well as Piazza San Marco and the Marciana area, and the various routes in the districts of Santa Croce, Cannaregio, San Polo, Dorsoduro. The adjacent central areas light up, as well as all the “cities of Venice” from the mainland to the islands, floating like gondolas in a lake of light.
This year the Christmas tree was placed between the Doge’s Palace and the Marciana Library. But the Christmas lights were placed throughout the Marciana district, illuminating the Procuratie Vecchie and Nuove and Calle Larga XXII Marzo up to Campo Santa Maria del Giglio.
As we wander around the city, we are accompanied by creative artists from Vittore Carpaccio to Jacopo de ‘Barbari, from Antuonio da Ponte to Vincenzo Scamozzi-Canaletto.
Not even a cold foggy day prevented us from enjoying ourselves by participating in the procession of Santas along the Grand Canal. And Venice, even in the fog, is always fascinating.
The “Natale di Luce 2021” project was made possible thanks to the collaboration of the municipality of Venice and Vela Spa; the aim is to give the local community and tourists a little peace, hope and serenity to counter the enemy common to all of the last two years. Good luck in the lights of hope that mayor Luigi Brugnaro reflects on the lagoon. Let it be a symbol of a new life for rebirth…
