Farewell to Enrica Bonaccorti, a Voice and Face of Italian Television

Enrica Bonaccorti, the beloved Italian television host, has passed away at the age of 76. She had been bravely battling pancreatic cancer, a struggle she shared openly in her final months.

In one of her last interviews on Verissimo, she admitted that her condition had worsened and expressed her concern for her daughter Verdiana, always by her side, and her grandson Teo: “I don’t want her to suffer, but she probably will. I want to give her all the beautiful things, the ones that take the weight off her shoulders. I want her to feel satisfied and happy with her son.”

After a four-month silence, she took to social media to share the reality of her treatments: “I’m not desperate, I don’t have many hopes either. The treatments I’m doing are tough, but I’m coping well. I have a nice… little wig on my head,” she wrote, showing both her humor and resilience in facing difficult times.

During her final TV interview, she added: “I hoped I would feel better, but I had to resume chemo because not much had changed. Some days I feel fine, other days I don’t. You just have to keep going. I feel embarrassed, ashamed, by all the attention I receive.”

She also expressed a clear wish for her funeral: “I don’t want more death, leave the flowers to the wind. Cut flowers give me a sense of death; they’re not alive. I don’t want flowers at my funeral.”

Enrica Bonaccorti leaves an indelible mark on Italian television, remembered for her strength, humor, and authenticity, and will remain in the hearts of all who loved and followed her over the decades.
