Traveling in a fairy tale: The Christmas train leaves
Vita gazette – The Christmas period is an unforgettable journey spent with our loved ones in the world of fairy tales. One of the experiences to try during the Christmas holidays is to board the Trans-Siberian of Italy, the historic train that travels between Abruzzo and Molise passing through villages suspended in time, National Parks, and Nature Reserves.
For the holidays, the historic Railway of the Parks makes a journey to discover the most characteristic Christmas markets.
There are two daily departures. Here are all the dates.
Christmas markets is Sulmona-Roccaraso
Departure from Sulmona at 9.00 am, panoramic mountain itinerary towards the slopes of the Maiella and the Highlands of Abruzzo, reaching the maximum altitude of the line at almost 1300 meters above sea level. Arrival in Roccaraso at 10.40 am for the first extended stop of the day. From the station you can reach the center of the village set up with a Christmas theme for visiting the characteristic markets, for leisure and for lunch. Departure from Roccaraso station at 2.30 pm for Campo di Giove, with arrival scheduled at 3.10 pm for the second extended stop of the day. From the train station you can reach in a few minutes on foot Piazza Duval and Palazzo Nanni set up with a Christmas theme with the characteristic Christmas houses enclosed in the historic center. Departure by historic train from Campo di Giove station at 6.00 pm, to make the final return to Sulmona at 6.45 pm. Departure from Sulmona at 10.30 am and arrival at 11.30 am for the first extended stop of the day at Campo di Giove, at the foot of the Maiella. From the station you can reach the town center, Piazza Duval and Palazzo Nanni, set up with a Christmas theme with the characteristic Christmas houses enclosed in the historic center. Departure by historic train from the station at 3.10 pm towards Roccaraso, crossing the Maiella and the Highlands of Abruzzo at the highest point of the line at almost 1300 meters above sea level. Arrival scheduled at 4 pm for the second extended stop of the day. From the train station you can reach in two steps the center set up with a Christmas theme, for visiting the characteristic markets and for Christmas entertainment along the streets of the center. Departure by historic train from the station at 6.15 pm, to make the final return to Sulmona at 7.40 pm.
Christmas Markets is Sulmona-Campo di Giove-Caster di Sangro
Departure from Sulmona at 8.45 am, panoramic mountain itinerary towards the slopes of the Maiella and the Highlands of Abruzzo. Arrival in Castel di Sangro at 11.10 am for the first extended stop of the day. From the station you can reach the town center along via XX Settembre set up with a Christmas theme for visiting the characteristic markets in Piazza Patini and the Christmas village in Piazza Plebiscito, for leisure and lunch break, free or at local restaurants. Departure by historic train from the station at 2.20 pm for Campo di Giove, with arrival at 3.45 pm for the second extended stop of the day. From the train station you can reach in a few minutes on foot Piazza Duval and Palazzo Nanni set up with a Christmas theme with the characteristic Christmas houses enclosed in the historic center. Departure by historic train from the station at 6.15 pm, to make the final return to Sulmona at 7.00 pm. Departure from Sulmona at 10.00, panoramic mountain itinerary towards the slopes of the Maiella. Arrival for the first stop in Campo di Giove at 11.00. From the train station you can reach in a few minutes on foot Piazza Duval and Palazzo Nanni set up with a Christmas theme with the characteristic Christmas houses enclosed in the historic center. Departure by historic train from the station at 2.20pm, you pass the Maiella and the Highlands of Abruzzo at the highest point of the line at almost 1300 meters above sea level and then descend towards the valley of the Sangro river. Arrival in Castel di Sangro at 3.45 pm for the second extended stop of the day. From the station you can reach the town center along via XX Settembre set up with a Christmas theme for visiting the characteristic markets in Piazza Patini and the Christmas village in Piazza Plebiscito, for leisure and lunch break, free or at local restaurants. Departure at 6.15 pm with final return to Sulmona at 8.15 pm.
