The era of the Melony government has begun

Vita gazette – Giorgia Meloni took the oath of office as Italy’s first female premier at the presidential palace on Saturday.

Today, Saturday, the leader of the Brothers of Italy and her government assume full powers to run the country after the oath of ministers.

The Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni swore an oath at the Quirinale in front of the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella: the new government was officially born, the first in Italy led by a woman. After Meloni, all the new ministers gradually swore.

Among the members of the first government of the new legislature, the League’s vice-president Matteo Salvini appointed Minister for Infrastructures and the force fighter Antonio Tajani, who became the new head of the Farnesina (Ministry of Foreign Affairs). Among the 24 ministers (6 women), nine come from Brothers of Italy, while five are from Forza Italia and the Lega. Giorgia Meloni has also decided to report to five “technical” ministers: Andrea Abodi (to Sport and Youth Policies), Matteo Piantedosi (Interior), Marina Calderone (Labor and Social Policies), Gennaro Sangiuliano (Cultural Heritage) and Orazio Schillaci ( Health).

After the swearing-in ceremony at the Quirinale, the new prime minister received congratulations from various political leaders, including the president of the EU Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, who wrote on Twitter that “she is ready and happy to work together with the new Italian government in a way that constructive to respond to the challenges that await us”.

Her Brothers of Italy party was the top vote-getter in last month’s national election. Meloni announced her cabinet on Friday evening. Her coalition allies include the League party of Matteo Salvini and the Forza Italia party, headed by former prime minister Silvio Berlusconi.
