Wheelchairs will be fully reimbursed
Vita gazette – In France, from 2024, wheelchairs for disabled citizens will be fully reimbursed.
The President of the French Republic, Emmanuel Macron, has announced that wheelchairs will be fully reimbursed starting next year. The announcement comes at the end of the sixth national conference on disability, chaired by the Head of State at the Elysee, during which he presented his government’s priorities to improve the rights of people with disabilities. Accessibility, education and employment are among the government’s priorities to improve the rights of people with disabilities.
In his presentation, the president also announced that 1.5 billion euros will ensure better access to public places for people with disabilities. Macron also announced measures to make schools more inclusive for students with disabilities. As of September 2022, 430,000 students with disabilities were enrolled in mainstream schools. “Every school and every first-grade district will now have a reference teacher,” Macron said.
