Marsilio won with over 53%, and D’Amico defeated
Vita gazette – The centre-right wins the regional elections in Abruzzo 2024. The now definitive results reconfirm the outgoing governor, Marco Marsilio, with 53.5%, which leads the centre-left challenger, Luciano D’Amico, by 7 points, stuck at 46,48%.
After the regional round in Sardinia, we went to vote in Abruzzo. One million two hundred thousand those entitled to vote had to choose between the outgoing President, Marco Marsilio (centre-right), and the challenger, Luciano D’Amico (centre-left). The counting began when the polls closed on the night between Sunday and Monday.
The turnout in the elections was 43.93%
The definitive voter turnout figure in Abruzzo’s regional elections is 43.93%, slightly higher than the previous elections’ turnout of 43.03%.
As we have seen, the right won half of Abruzzo, just as the opposition won half of Sardinia. The constant in both elections or the winner, was the percentage of those who did not go to the polls. This significant half does not vote and leaves the decision-making task to others. These people govern Italy, unconsciously or involuntarily.

The ballot counting in Abruzzo has concluded. Even if there are still a few sections left to be scrutinised, the result is clear: Marco Marsilio wins the elections and is reconfirmed as leader of the Abruzzo Region with 53.50% of the preferences, while Luciano D’Amico stops at 46.50%.

The Abruzzo elections provide two pieces of data: the success of Forza Italia, which significantly increased preferences compared to five years ago and surpassed the League; The 5 Star Movement, which lost 17 points.
The race continues
The vote in Abruzzo is the second time at the polls of the year – after Sardinia, which saw the victory of the centre-left candidate Alessandra Todde – and it will certainly not be the last. After Abruzzo, it will be the turn of Basilicata and further on to Piedmont until the autumn when Umbria will vote.
