Paris and Milan will once again be connected by a direct train

After two years, Milan and Paris will finally be connected by direct train from April 1.

Milan and Paris are jewellery from European culture, architecture, food, and nightlife.  And if you plan on exploring both, we have some good news.  Trenitalia France announced the long-awaited return of its Paris-Milan train service, which will resume operations on April 1, 2025. The direct route, which passes through Turin, will again connect the French and Italian capitals, making it easier to experience both iconic cities in one trip.

Trenitalia’s Frecciarossa trains will resume service on April 1, offering two daily departures in each direction. Trains will leave Paris at 7:30 a.m. and 3:20 p.m., while departures from Milan are scheduled for 6:25 a.m. and 3:53 p.m. The journey will take approximately seven hours, with key stops in Lyon, Chambéry, Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne, Modane, Oulx, and Turin.

Ticket prices start at around €35, and Trenitalia’s website provides more details on schedules and reservations.

But that’s not the only announcement Trenitalia France has made – the operator is also launching a brand new service between Paris and Marseille from June 15. Four round trips will run daily, ferrying passengers from the Gare de Lyon to the Mediterranean in just three hours and 20 minutes. It’s set to compete with the existing TGV service between the two cities.

The service was suspended after a landslide near Maurienne in the French Alps on August 27, 2023, caused significant damage to the route. After extensive repairs and months of anticipation, bookings are officially open, signalling the long-awaited revival of this beloved connection.

Meanwhile, French national rail operator SNFC is also preparing to resume its high-speed Paris-Milan service, with operations scheduled to restart on March 31. This means travellers will have even more options for seamless travel between these two European cities. And so, the rail travel renaissance continues.
