When we started our “News from Italy” journey, we considered the name of our newspaper a lot.

Our newspaper should understand the meaning of life and treat the moments that makeup life with respect and care.

Our newspaper had to have an upbeat rhythm that progressed “to be informed and enjoying life”.

Because for us, life has a secret rhythm in which moments gain meaning…

 Thus, its name became “Vita”.

We added “gazette” to emphasise the Italian identity of our newspaper.

Because the word gazéta was born in Venice.

Gazéta is the first newspaper name given to the monthly newsletter issued by the Venetian government.

Gazzetta, meaning “newsletter,” was first used in Venice in the mid-16th century.

 It later spread from the lagoon city to Italy and Europe.

We chose Gazette to emphasise the global impact of the word that spread worldwide…

Because the first stop of the word gazéta after Italy was France…

The first bulletin published here was called “Gazette de France”.

Today’s digital life gives priority to fast consumption.

Lives are status-based or comprised of a digital world of consumer content.

In this case, deep thinking, knowledge and development are left behind.  

In this context, the word “brain rot” describes the trends and mood of 2024, which the Oxford Dictionary chose.

It refers to endlessly scrolling and watching mind-numbing content due to unconscious use of social media.

The dictionary definition of the word is;

“Degradation of a person’s mental state and intellectual state as a result of excessive consumption of unimportant and non-challenging content.”

Social media has turned society into the shepherd in the story of the Pied Piper, and society has become children acting unconsciously.

In this chaotic environment, we must create a quality storytelling culture and a satisfying digital product experience.

And we establish the freedom of reliable information as our purpose of existence…

Looking back today, we see more clearly how the rhythm flowed imperceptibly but indifferently…

While economic crises and political and social orders have experienced countless fluctuations for thousands of years, this rhythm has always existed and will continue.

Just as the waves shifting towards one end have been balanced throughout history, the same rhythm will be balanced tomorrow, sooner or later…
