You are not alone: Ants have megacities too!
By Princess Vanessa
Hello! You are discovering our secrets one by one! I don’t know if it’s good or bad for us living beings. In time, humanity, known as the smartest good and most educated creature on earth, will show this…
This time news from the world of ants. A video that was published a while ago became the agenda again. Scientists Find Mega City Inside Ant Hill. The perfect creature of the earth is not only human! It’s fascinating! Abandoned ant hill excavation reveals a city.
Even though humans would love to feed their bloated egos and declare themselves the only creatures on Earth who could construct such mega-cities, they are not the only ones with such talent. This time, the ants showed this fact.
How Does? Let’s continue to learn about the city life of ants together.
Scientists, who set out to explore the world of ants, stopped when they found an abandoned hill. Then they did experiments and research here. And they found an underground city, built by tiny ants. The next? After ensuring it was an abandoned city, they continued their work. They pumped 10 tons of cement into the abandoned anthill for three days. And finally, they discovered the mega city with all their plans.
After weeks of digging, they found an enormous ant colony built underground. “Ants! The Hidden Power of Nature” was fascinating…
They were utterly stunned when they noticed the intricacies of the underground web created by the ants. From the structure of the tunnels in the gigantic mega-city, the scientists determined that the ants moved 40 tons of dirt to form the underground system.
The Structure Built by the Ants Is Not Just Large; it Is Logically Planned
In the clip, which went viral on Twitter, the narrator said, “There are underground highways connecting the main rooms, and there are side roads outside the main roads.” The narrator states, “The paths branch out and lead to many mushroom gardens and garbage pits.”
The video also explains how these tunnels inside the structure were designed to provide full ventilation and cut the ants’ travel time in half. “Everything seems to have been designed by an architect with one mind, but of course, that is not true,” the narrator said.
The narrator continued, “The collective will of the superorganism, the ant colony created this huge and complex city.” According to Arizona State University, ants are small but mighty creatures and can carry 10 to 50 times their weight.
However, their strength is not their only virtue; according to the Journal of Biomechanics, a group of researchers discovered that the neck joint of a typical American field ant can withstand pressures up to 5,000 times its weight.
Carlos Castro, an assistant mechanical and aerospace engineering professor at The Ohio State University, said, “Ants are unique mechanical systems—astounding. Before we started, we made a somewhat conservative estimate that they might withstand 1,000 times their weight, which was much more.”
I leave the video here for those who want to watch it… What do we do if you are convinced? We treat ourselves and others with respect… We do this with empathy…
