The 81st Venice International Film Festival
The 81st Venice International Film Festival has begun. It opened with the film “Beetlejuice” screening by American director Tim Burton. French actress Isabelle Huppert, president of the jury of this year’s festival, said in her opening speech: “I asked myself which language I should speak tonight, but there is an intelligent and universal language that excludes no one and deserves to live forever. This is the language of cinema.”
The 81st Venice International Film Festival, held on the Lido Peninsula this year, opened its doors with Burton, the director of “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice”, Burton’s partner and one of the actors of the film, Monica Belluci, Jenna Ortega and Willem Dafoe appearing on the red carpet. American actress Sigourney Weaver was also given the “Golden Lion Lifetime Achievement” award at the ceremony. French actor Alain Delon, Italian actor Roberto Herlitzka and American actress Gena Rowlands, who passed away recently, were commemorated at the opening. It will be the year of Hollywood’s A series, which fields its latest stars: among others, George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, Cate Blanchett and Nicole Kidman. The eighty-first edition of the Venice Film Festival takes place from 28 August to 7 September, still under the direction of Alberto Barbera and the new presidency of Pietrangelo Buttafuoco. From the library of the Historical Archive of the Venice Biennale, Barbera revealed the films in and out of competition from all sections of the Festival.

There are not only films on the program. From August 27tht to September 7thr, here is the day-by-day list of all the other events not to be missed at the Film Festival: all at the Lido unless otherwise indicated
In 2024, the most anticipated party will be the Armani party on August 31st in one of the most evocative locations in Venice: the Arsenale. The brand’s faces, Cate Blanchett, Sydney Sweeney, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and Adria Arjona, will participate.
On the 29th evening, Diane Von Furstenberg recognises women who have improved women’s lives with her DVF Awards. A Gala dinner at the Tese dell’Arsenale, with Oprah Winfrey and Paola Cortellesi, is expected. And at the Villa degli Autori, the opening party of the Giornate for the world premiere of Quasi a casa.
