L’Aquila is the Italian capital of culture 2026

Vita gazette – L’Aquila is officially the Italian Capital of Culture 2026. The Abruzzo capital won with the dossier “L’Aquila. Multiverse City.”

The capital of Abruzzo won the title established in 2014 with a project that proposes “a model for valorising the territory and the cultural, artistic and natural heritage”.

The announcement was made today in Rome at an event at the Ministry of Culture, during which the head of the department, Gennaro Sangiuliano, and the jury president, Davide Maria Desario, spoke.

The other nine finalists, with their respective dossiers, were:

-Agnone (Isernia), “Agnone 2026: Fire inside. Margin in the centre.”

-Alba (Cuneo), “Living is beginning. Langhe and Roero, another story.”

-Gaeta (Latina), “Blue, the climate of culture”

-Latina, “Latina bonum facere”

-Lucera (Foggia), “Lucera 2026: Crossroads of Peoples and Cultures”

-Maratea (Potenza), “Maratea 2026. The future starts from a thousand-year journey.”

-Rimini, “Come over. The future here and now.”

-Treviso, “The senses of culture”

-Union of Valdichiana Senese Municipalities (Siena), “Valdichiana 2026, seed of Italy”
