A bridge of dreams is being built between Italy and Sicily!

Vita gazette – The government has accepted the decree to rapidly start the “Messina Strait Bridge” construction process connecting the Italian peninsula and Sicily. With its 3.2 kilometre length, the Messina Strait Bridge, which will take the title of “the longest suspension bridge in the world” when completed, is expected to be the economic, social and cultural driving force in mainland Italy, the island of Sicily and Calabria.

A government step was taken for the Messina Strait Bridge, which was first brought to the agenda in Italy in the early 1950s. But unfortunately, although it was designed many times, its construction could only be started some of the time due to financial difficulties.

Salvini: “A historic day for Italy”

Deputy Prime Minister and Transport and Infrastructure Matteo Salvini, who has been working hard since the day he took office for the realisation of the nearly 70-year-old project, said that the decision taken at the council of ministers is a historic day not only for Sicily or Calabria but for the whole of Italy. Salvini previously said they aim to start the bridge’s construction in 2024.
