Pordenone: The Italian Capital of Culture 2027
The Italian Capital of Culture 2027 baton will pass to Pordenone (Friuli Venezia Giulia).
Pordenone is the Italian Capital of Culture 2027. The Minister of Culture, Alessandro Giuli, proclaimed it during a ceremony in Rome in the Ministry’s Sala Spadolini. The aim is to strengthen the territory’s identity through the projects planned to be implemented, including history, visual arts, cinema, and the active community. All cultural institutions, museums, and universities are expected to contribute to this process.

The history of the title Italian Capital of Culture
The recognition of the Italian Capital of Culture, established in 2014, was held in 2015 by the cities of Cagliari, Lecce, Perugia, Ravenna and Siena, who shared the experience in the debut edition that awarded the title to the finalists of the title of European Capital of Culture won by Matera for 2019. It was subsequently awarded to Mantua (2016), Pistoia (2017), Palermo (2018), and Parma for 2020, then extended to 2021 due to the health emergency, and Procida (2022). For 2023, Bergamo and Brescia shared the title of Italian Capital of Culture, a choice of the Parliament in favour of the territories severely hit by the first emergency phase of the Covid-19 pandemic. In 2024, the Italian Capital of Culture was Pesaro; the city designated for 2025 is Agrigento, and for 2026, it will be L’Aquila.
For 2027, it is Pordenone!
