Political election results: Giorgia Meloni wins
Meloni: “Dagli italiani indicazione chiara:
governo di centrodestra a guida FdI”
by Matteo Salvini, which is in the centre-right coalition, were among the “losers” with their percentage of votes. On the other hand, the M5, led by Giuseppe Conte, emerged as the “third political party” in the election it entered alone and entered the winners league.
In the elections held on Sunday, September 25, 2022, the right coalition emerged from the polls. The people of Italy, overwhelmed by the war, economic crisis, excessive irregular migration and deteriorating cultural values, preferred the Brothers of Italy and Meloni, who gave messages on these problems. Early official results from Italy’s interior ministry revealed that the right-wing coalition led by the Brothers of Italy could win enough seats to form a government.

Giorgia Meloni, leader of the far-right Party of Brothers of Italy (FdI), which emerged first in the unofficial general elections in Italy, said the election results are a clear sign that Italians want a centre-right government led by the FdI.

Meloni: “Italy chose us, we will not betray it”
Giorgia Meloni, in his speech after the first results came, said, “The message of the Italians is a centre-right government led by the Brothers of Italy. Italy chose us, we will not betray it. Italians, I am proud to be Italian once again.” In her speech, Meloni also thanked the alliance partners Silvio Berlusconi and Matteo Salvini and said, “Obviously, FdI’s being the first party means a lot, this is a night of pride, redemption, tears, hugs. Today is a starting point, not a destination, from tomorrow we must show our worth. If you want to be a part of history, you must understand that you have a responsibility to tens of millions of Italians and we will not betray them. If we are called to lead this nation, we will do it for everyone.”
Conte (M5s): “We made a great comeback”
Former Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte, the leader of the 5-Star Movement (M5S), which appeared in the 4th place in the opinion polls but came in the 3rd place with 15% of the vote in the election, said at a press conference that everyone attacked them during the campaign period, but today they made an important comeback. Conte said, “We are the first political power in the election we entered alone and the third political power in the country and we have a great responsibility. We will be a brave, determined and uncompromising opposition force. The centre-right is not the majority in the country.”
The tragic collapse of the Foreign Minister
The collapse of Luigi Di Maio, now Deputy Prime Minister, who sided with Mario Draghi and later resigned from his party and founded a new party, was tragic. Luigi di Maio, who ignored the foreign policy warnings of Giuseppe Conte on Ukraine (against sending arms, in favour of diplomatic initiatives and solutions) of his former leader M5 party, was left out of the parliament. Losing against his opponent Sergio Costa (M5S), Luigi di Maio’s party also failed to show a presence. According to preliminary data, it does not seem possible for his party to overcome the 3% barrier required for the rate of civic participation. The outgoing Foreign Minister sensationally stayed out of Parliament. Yet, before two legislatures, he was a child prodigy of politics as a very young vice-president of the House. He, too, became a name that split his party on the way to Ukraine, stood before the people with the new party he founded, but took his place among the “losers” with the response he received from the public in the first vote.
Serracchiani (Pd): “My party is also responsible for the results”
Debora Serrachiani, Deputy Chairman of the Democratic Party (PD), Parliamentary Group, the roof party of the centre-left, which came in second place with 19 percent of the votes according to the unofficial results in the elections, Debora Serracchiani, Democratic Party Parliamentary Group Chairperson, said, “There is no doubt that Giorgia Meloni is dragged by the data seen so far. We cannot tie the victory to the right. A sad evening for the country. My party has an important responsibility for these results. It did not achieve a result that met the expectations,” she said.
Abstentions increased!
The number of voters who voted in this election remained at 63.9 percent. Abstentions reached the highest number since the Republic was born. The abstaining party, practically represents a pool of verbal consent of approximately 4.5 million citizens who have decided to leave the polls.
“Yes-no” from Meloni
Speaking to Spain’s far-right party before the elections, Meloni briefly expressed the following views:
“Yes, to the natural family, no to the LGBT lobby, yes to sexual identity, no to gender ideology… No to Islamist violence, yes to the security of borders, no to mass immigration… no to big international finance… No to Brussels bureaucrats!”
