Good news: You will not have to leave your loved ones!
by Prince
When the holiday period of the group of people from the living world comes, they are filled with feelings of happiness, and we are filled with feelings of fear.
Where? Since we have news from Italy, of course, our beloved country… Who are they? Trenitalia!
Yes, you heard right. Trenitalia is trying to reduce the number of pets abandoned during the holidays.
This summer, it announced that pets could travel free on Italy’s Frecce and Intercity long-distance trains.
The project, which runs until September 15 on Frecce trains and September 5 on Intercity trains, is part of Trenitalia’s efforts to reduce people leaving their pets on summer vacation. More to come…
Trenitalia CEO Luigi Corradi and LEIDAA animal protection group head Michela Vittoria Brambilla introduced the measure.
“Abandonment is a cruel, cowardly and despicable act. It is breaking the love and friendship agreement we made with the animal accepted into the family”. I was very touched when Brambilla said. “Your ordinary friend cannot be a burden to you just because it’s time to go on vacation. There are a thousand ways always to stay close. One of them is to get on the train, where the limitations of the past are long gone,” he added, and I started to cry…
Describing it as “a concrete action to support anti-abandonment campaigns already active in our country”, Corradi said: “The demand for those who go on vacation with their four-legged friend is growing, and Trenitalia has activated a series of initiatives to facilitate holidays for families and their pets.” This summer, Trenitalia’s regional trains join the Italia in Tour promo – offering unlimited travel for three days for €29 or five days for €49 – and allowing travellers to take their medium or large dog on board as often as they like, provided the animal is on a leash and wearing a muzzle. To travel with pets on Trenitalia trains, travellers must carry the animal’s certificate of registration and health booklet or – for foreign citizens – the dog’s passport. Guide dogs for blind people travel free of charge on all Trenitalia trains, as do small pets transported in a pet carrier up to a maximum size of 70x30x50 cm.
