Goodbye, Tina Turner!

Vita Gazette – Rock and roll legend Tina Turner has died at 83.

The world lost a music legend and role model. “She passed away peacefully after a long illness at her home in Küsnacht near Zurich, Switzerland,” her spokesperson said.

The artist had lived in Switzerland since 1994 and retired from the stage in 2009. Beloved by the general public, she was endowed with irony and self-irony: “I should stop with sexy clothes and all that movement; I don’t want to become the grandmother of rock”, he declared before retiring.

Twelve albums in 40 years of career with over 200 million records sold. The 1984 album “Private Dancer” launched her into world music as a successful solo singer, and over 20 million records sold behind her. In 1986 his name appeared on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The rest is history with unforgettable tracks such as “The Best”, “We Don’t Need Another Hero”, “What’s Love Got to Do With It”, and “Goldeneye”, the soundtrack of the 17th James Bond film, written by Bono of the U2. Tina Turner loved Italy very much; she was a close friend of Giorgio Armani; with Elisa, she recorded “Teach Me Again” (2006) while with her friend Eros Ramazzotti the unforgettable “Cose della Vita” (1998)

She had decided to leave the scene in 2000, after the release of her last unreleased album, “Twenty-four Seven”, but then returned to perform on stage in 2008 for “Tina!: 50th Anniversary Tour”. Once the spotlights have been turned off, the singer will continue to live in Switzerland with her partner Erwin Bach, the German manager of Emi, whom she will marry in 2013. Unfortunately, three months after her marriage, she suffers a heart attack. An example of many women who have experienced difficult times, the icon for many artists and musicians, Tina Turner, will remain indelible in the collective imagination with her beautiful legs and unmistakable hair of a wild and free woman. Still, the artist will stay, above all, an example of strength for everyone: “In life, I had to fend for myself. Always, from the very beginning, he stated, “I had to go out into the world and become strong to discover my mission in life”.
