Visiting the Pantheon will come at a price for tourists
Vita gazette – The best-known monument in Rome will have an entrance ticket. Not for the Romans, however, is the promise.
The Minister and the auxiliary bishop of Rome, Msgr, signed the agreement. According to the deed, the entrance ticket will, be paid for in full by tourists, given that for Romans, it will be free, as well as for minors under 18, protected categories, teachers accompanying school groups, canons of the Chapter of the Basilica and for lay and religious personnel, volunteers, clerics and for the guards of honour at the Royal Tombs of the Pantheon, as well as being accessible for the exercise of worship and religious activities. On the other hand, children up to 25 years of age will pay two euros. 70% of the proceeds from ticket sales will go to the Ministry, and 30% to the Diocese of Rome. The Ministry will bear the costs of ordinary and extraordinary maintenance and cleaning and any requests from the Chapter. The Diocese of Rome “will use the resources for charitable and cultural activities and maintenance, conservation and restoration of state-owned churches present in its territory”, underlined the Ministry.
The date the ticket will become a reality has yet to be established. “It will be introduced as soon as the technical steps necessary to allow visitors to purchase the coupon are completed”, explains the Ministry. And it remains to be regulated, with agreements between the Ministry and the Municipality of Rome, “free access for residents of the capital and the allocation of part of the resources to the Capitoline administration”.
