Louis Vuitton Parade on Isola Bella
Vita gazette – Louis Vuitton has arrived on the legendary Italian peninsula. It chose a beautiful among the beauties. Dopo dropped anchor at Isola Bella, which he took under the protection of Lake Maggiore with his “2024 Cruise Collection”. And began its legendary journey through the palace above the waters, where mysterious gardens bloomed in eternity, which kept the Borromeo family’s legends hidden for centuries.
Louis Vuitton was in Italy to present its new iterating show. The Cruise 2024 collection was directed to a small island in Italy, Isola Bella of the Borromean Islands, located on Lake Maggiore. Isola Bella has been in the hands of the Borromeo family, led by Prince Vitaliano XI Borromeo and his wife Marina, for the past four centuries.
Palazzo Borromeo on Isola Bella, a Baroque stronghold suspended over the water of Lake Maggiore, is the setting for the Louis Vuitton fashion show for Cruise 2024, a collection that Nicolas Ghesquière has created inspired by the enchanted atmosphere of a location full of legends. Combining water, botanicals and codes, Isola Bella was the main inspiration for a dreamy, visionary collection of shimmering, colourful, detailed, baroque looks. A botanical sea voyage… The paradox here is actually very joyful; it evokes reflective stylistic interpretations.
Louis Vuitton became the first brand to stage a fashion show in the stunning location filled with essential paintings and breathtaking botanical gardens, which the Maison describes as “a treasure chest of Baroque art suspended over water”.
On Isola Bella is the Palazzo Borromeo, a 20-room palace decorated with Baroque interiors and 130 notable Italian paintings surrounded by green gardens where we find the Teatro Massimo, the most important monument in the park of Isola Bella, a statuary monument located at the centre of the latter.
Modern and fascinating
The stylist has been nourished by the suggestions of the place to build a series of modern and fascinating looks.
All the looks, stylistically, present the study of silhouettes and volumes typical of the Louis Vuitton designer. Ultra-modern lines and shapes transported into a timeless dimension, that of the myth
The collection reflects a dream that develops in the botanical and aquatic scenario where the fashion show occurs. Isola Bella is the physical and imaginative setting for a story populated by creatures dressed in a creative and baroque style.
One of the most apparent inspiring motifs is the aquatic one, which looks created with scuba and technical fabrics whose details recall diving suits. Even the chosen shades, cuts and details are a reminder of the dark waters and the creatures that inhabit the abyss.
Fish and mermaids are the other subjects recognisable in the details. Representative of Cruise 2024 are the printed motifs that recall fish scales and the collars and sleeves that reproduce the fins and gills of marine creatures in the design. The masks on the face amplify the alienating and fairy-tale effect.
The scales of the mermaids’ tails materialise in artfully composed macro-sequin skirts. Generally, the fabrics used are worked sophisticatedly to give a realistic idea of foam or surfaces wetted by drops of water.
Even the headdresses contribute to making all the outings spectacular
The latest releases are certainly the most theatrical. The long dresses with structured skirts with wide bottoms, diagonal seams and bows that recall the tails of the sirens are inspired, as is logical, by the most seductive of marine creatures, mythological figures that Ghesquière reinterprets in a rococo key.
A sea voyage that creates contemporary tales of wandering creatures who leave their flooded homes to explore mysteries on land.
The Cruise 2024 collection is a transformational narrative. These sartorial characters renew themselves by staying in contact with each other.
It is the story of going back and forth between the familiar and the unique, from the ordinary to the extraordinary.
