Reformist steps in “Made in Italy”

Synthetic food production and marketing are banned

Vita gazette – The government, determined to protect the “Made in Italy” brand, also took action on livestock and public health in this context. The bill of government, which prepared the bill to ban the production and marketing of synthetic food, including artificial meat, was presented to the Senate, which envisages different fines and prison sentences for those who promote “anorexia and blumiya” eating disorders on social media.

The Council of Ministers adopted the bill banning synthetic food and feed production and marketing, including artificial meat. The bill is expected to become law after the lower and upper houses of parliament approve it. Fines of up to 60 thousand euros to producers.

Called “fake food”, they are often plant-based foods that try to emulate traditional ones, able to replicate taste and texture. They are poor quality food.

“Italy is the first nation that says no to synthetic meat.”

After the Council of Ministers, it was Francesco Lollobrigida, Minister of Agriculture and Food Sovereignty, who rejoiced at a press conference for one of the measures approved by the government at Palazzo Chigi: “This is the first measure of this nature at an international level. Italy is the first nation that says no to synthetic meat with an official measure”.

“Here, it is not just a question of defending Italian livestock production, nor even less of opposing any innovation in principle. Made-in-Italy products do not fear any competition in the market due to their quality if the market is based on transparent rules and equal conditions for everyone. In synthetic foods, however, there is still great uncertainty regarding the consequences on human health and the environmental impact deriving from its production.”
