Extreme heat, fires, storms, water bombs, giant hail, heavy rains, floods, drownings, flying roofs, fallen trees, stopped trains, planes unable to take off, dead thousands of evacuees…
As global and regional powers and the countries that follow them continue to transfer all kinds of resources, money and lethal weapons to Ukraine, another war between humanity and nature is raging. The winner and loser of this war are clear. All humankind is disappearing along with the world and nature… The world is becoming uninhabitable. If attention is drawn to this problem and solutions are implemented quickly, people and quality of life will be left and countries in which wars of power and interests will be fought!
Italy was divided into rain and strong winds in the North and sultriness in the South. Today orange bad weather alert in Lombardy and Veneto; yellow in 6 other regions. The red dot in 16 cities in the Center and the South.
A new violent storm in the night over Milan and Brianza: roofs uncovered and fallen trees. A train was evacuated in Monza. A 16-year-old died after being hit by a tree. Yesterday a 58-year-old lost her life crushed by a log. Several were injured in Veneto due to hail. The Milan-New York flight was forced to land in Rome due to rain. The giant battery is on the rise. A tornado hit the city of Forlì. The gusts of wind reached, and exceeded in open spaces, one hundred kilometres per hour. A Massacre of branches and several trees completely collapsed to the ground under the pressure of the strong wind. Some cars were also damaged; the same applies to homes and businesses’ roofs. Streets are invaded by hundreds of garbage cans displayed outside the houses for door-to-door collection. No injuries are reported.
Due to the strong gusts of wind, the Municipality of Ravenna has ordered, to protect public safety, the prohibition of access to the parks and pine forests from now until the end of the emergency.
Trentino, flooding and flooding of watercourses: Due to bad weather, the firefighters had numerous interventions between late Monday afternoon and this morning. Tree crashes caused by the wind occurred in the Central Valley, while a landslide affected the lakes of Molveno and Tenno. There are also several floods due to heavy rains. The firefighters also had to intervene due to the flooding of some waterways, such as the Rio Dosso in the valley of Genoa. Several roads, in Vigevano as well as outside the city, currently need to be improved. Pavia was also involved but with more limited damage. The Pavese area, around the municipality of Giussago, was more affected.
Evacuated train in Monza, passengers rescued
The passengers of Trenord train 25277 at 21.09. Thanks to the Red Cross, Polfer and Trenord staff, around 150 passengers were disembarked and evacuated. Also, due to bad weather, several travellers heading to various parts of Lombardy and the country were stuck in the Central Station in Milan due to some impassable tracks.
The violent storm that hit Milan and the hinterland also caused considerable damage and inconvenience to transport. Greece continues to burn: while the situation in Rhodes remains critical, with at least three fire fronts fueled by the strong winds advancing, the flames have also threatened Corfu, where in the night between Sunday and Monday, around 2,500 people were evacuated from 17 inhabited centres on the island on the Ionian Sea due to a forest fire. In Corfu, the fire appears to be under control, and around 2,000 tourists evacuated from the areas of Kalami, Nisaki, and Mparmpati have gradually been able to return to their hotels by private bus after spending the night in a stadium and the island’s municipal theatre. The situation in Rhodes, in the Dodecanese, continues to worry. Thirty thousand people have been removed from their homes. The fire three flame fronts are not yet under control. The fire continuously burns in the area of Gennadi and Vati on the south-eastern coast. In Asklipio, flames entered the village and damaged at least ten houses, with firefighters also fighting the fire in Laerma, another badly damaged settlement. The situation also remains critical in the south of the island of Evia, in Karystos: the inhabited centres of Platys Gialos, Livadi, Kastri, Potami, Pernaraki and Platanistos have been evacuated. According to Farnesina, around 2,000 Italian citizens are in the areas affected by the fires in Greece.
Return to the worst stormy weather in Switzerland in the last three decades: Switzerland was hit by storms, bad weather and extreme weather phenomena, which caused deaths and extensive damage. A reminder of the most severe events of the last three decades.
