Following “respect,” the word chosen in 2024, the Treccani Italian Encyclopedia Institute has chosen “trust” as its word of the year for 2025, choosing it “for its relevance and ethical value.” The definition of trust is explained in the Treccani 100 Italian dictionary, which defines it as “an attitude of calm confidence that arises from a positive assessment of a person or group of people, toward others or toward oneself.”
