The nominative ticket to enter the Colosseum

Vita gazette – From 18 October 2023, a personal ticket is required to enter the Colosseum. The main objective is to combat the unauthorised market. Also a safety issue.

The introduction of the nominative ticket to visit the arched symbol of the Italian capital has changed the entire structure dedicated to buying and selling: the digital channels and the call centre have been strengthened, and a new ticket office opened in addition to the one already existing in Piazza del Colosseo, at the access point to the PARCO in Largo della Salara Vecchia/Via dei Fori Imperiali, thus bringing to 6 the available cash registers for the collection of tickets on-site intended for individual non-intermediated visitors, the percentage of entrances issued on site is also doubled. And while 55% of the total tickets to visit the Flavian Amphitheater are allocated to the B2C platform, i.e. for individual visitors, 25% are given to the B2B platform for tour operators.

“In a historical moment in which cities of art, not only Rome, are experiencing a period of over-tourism where demand far exceeds supply, we remember that, to guarantee the safety of visitors and the protection of the heritage artistic, a maximum of 3,000 visitors are allowed in the Colosseum at the same time,” said Alfonsina Russo, director of the Colosseum archaeological park.
