“Made in Italy” is also the first in luxury!
Vita gazette – By placing 23 companies among the top 100 in the “fashion & luxury” sector by turnover in 2021, Italy confirms its leadership in the sector at a global level. Deloitte: Italy first luxury country, 23 companies in the Top100.
In this period of change and uncertainty, the appeal of companies in the luxury sector has reconfirmed. The sector has been able to re-invent itself and start a considerable transformation process, bringing concepts such as sustainability, circular economy, innovation, to the center of its growth strategies for the coming years. Italy with its Made in Italy confirms itself as one of the leading countries in the sector, positioning 23 companies among the Top 100 in the ranking of the ninth edition of the Global Powers of Luxury Goods, the annual study by Deloitte.
Nearly all recorded double-digit growth of between 17.3% and 49.3%, with compound year-over-year growth above the average of 27.2%. According to the research, the total turnover of the top 100 groups in the world is equal to 305 billion dollars, 53 billion more than the previous year and + 8.5% compared to pre-pandemic levels.
Golden Goose, Moncler and Euroitalia are among the fastest growing companies, respectively in third, tenth and sixteenth place, thanks to a double-digit annual average growth for the period 2018-2021 (respectively 27.2%, 12.9% and 10.9%). The Prada group, Moncler and Giorgio Armani are the three main Italian players in the ranking and, in aggregate form, they represent 35% of the sales of luxury goods made by the Italian companies in the ranking. The Marcolin group recorded the highest net profit margin of the entire ranking: 33.4%, followed by Hermes with 27.3%.
The results achieved by the large luxury conglomerates such as Lvmh, Kering and Esté Lauder demonstrate, in turn, the strength of the group. With only 8 companies in the ranking, 4 of which are among the top 10, it is France, not surprisingly, that has achieved the best overall performance. In detail, sales grew by 42.4% (best result achieved only by Spanish companies with year-on-year growth of 45.2%), with the highest net profit (19.8%) and with the Cagr best (13.3%) in the three-year period 2018-2021.
