Vita gazette – In Australia, meatballs were made by producing meat from a mammoth cell.
Scientists want to demonstrate that synthetic meat has a lower environmental impact than farmed meat. But the experiment, for the moment, is not meant to be eaten.
In Australia, a project has been developed to produce cell meat without slaughter and to draw attention to the link between cattle ranching and the destruction of wildlife and the climate crisis. An Australian company that reproduces meat from long-extinct animals has made meatballs from a mammoth cell.
The company has already explored the potential of more than 50 species, including alpaca, buffalo, crocodile, kangaroo, peacock and other fish species. The first artificial meat to be sold to restaurants will be Japanese quail, which the company plans to debut in Singapore restaurants this year.
