Tomarrow is World Aperitif Day

Vita gazette – We Italians celebrate every day. The aperitif, one of our national liturgical moments, joined these celebrations. The World Aperitivo Day, which began tomarrow with its third edition, will keep this culture alive with “Made in Italy” products.

The aperitif is an original rite of the Italian tradition that combines a drink with a food product or a gastronomic preparation combined with it. Not drinking for its own sake but celebrating a convivial moment with something good and beautiful. Knowledge and sharing remain the perfect antidote against any excess. It’s part of our culture. More than 75% of Italians say they allow this moment at least once weekly.

World Aperitivo Day is the international day of the aperitif launched two years before with the signing of the Aperitif Manifesto – the first discipline created to codify, promote and protect one of the most loved Italian rituals shared by institutions, ambassadors, brands and companies. A three-day Festival is being staged in Milan to celebrate one of our flags (food and wine, and culture) in the world

The Manifesto of the Italian Aperitif is two year old today.  Aperitivo Festival, a three-day event (26-28 May 2024) that will enliven Italy to celebrate (and reflect ) the rite that most of all represent Italy in the world of good living. A symbolic ritual is so important as to move a part of the economy on its own.

How do we celebrate…

The goal is to build a great mobilisation at a national level and in particular focused on the world of eating out and administration premises.  First, the aperitif must consist of a combination of a drink and a gastronomic preparation; to be considered Italian, it must be composed of at least 50% Made in Italy ingredients.

There will be many locations in the cities to celebrate one of the Italians’ favourite moments of conviviality. The event will extend its borders until Sunday to become the first Aperitif Festival, a three-day event complete with a village and experiences, including tastings, masterclasses and entertainment.

The World Aperitif Day – which also sees FIPE Confcommercio among its partners – is today an all-Italian event which aims to take on an international dimension.
