Valentino becomes a model: “turns off the lights”

Vita gazette – The adverse effects of the war between the US, NATO, the European Union and Russia on Ukraine have been reflected in fashion. The energy crisis and high prices have also mobilized Valentino, known for his messages that motivate society in social situations. And the famous brand has decided to turn off the lights of its stores around the world starting at 22:00.

From 6 October, Maison Valentino turns off the lights of its boutiques on a global scale. The windows of 95 shops in every corner of the globe will be in the dark from 10 pm every evening, thus guaranteeing a lower consumption of electricity for over 800 kWh, consumption comparable to that of 13 thousand traditional light bulbs.

The hashtag #ValentinoForAChange, which the Maison had already relaunched in the past to strengthen its sustainable and environmental commitment: the company, in fact, already uses 80% of renewable sources on Italian soil for energy management, of headquarters, shops and production sites; according to an official statement, the decision to turn off the lights is not only a move aimed at saving electricity and reducing costs, but it is also a symbolic gesture, in line with the green philosophy of the Maison.

After 10 pm, therefore, shop windows, sales areas and lightboxes will go out, just like the logos of the boutiques and related warehouses; only the emergency lights will remain active, to protect the staff, who have been asked to respect this energy rigour even in their daily lives.
