The Ferrari 250 LM won the 2024 “Best of the Best Award”. The car was selected among the winners of the most important international competitions.

The Peninsula Classics Best of the Best Award, considered one of the most prestigious awards in the world of classic cars, has announced its 2024 winner. The 2024 Peninsula Classics Best of the Best Award was awarded this year to the 1964 Ferrari 250 LM model. This unique model, one of the most important parts of Ferrari’s racing heritage, attracts attention for both its historic achievements and impeccable restoration. The Ferrari 250 LM, produced in just 32 examples and which left its mark on the history of motorsports with victory in the 1965 24 Hours of Le Mans, won this very special award by impressing the jury with its engineering excellence, iconic design and impeccable restoration.

The jury, made up of 24 experts, evaluated the aesthetic value and sporting history of the Ferrari 250 LM. This model participated in iconic races in the 1960s, such as the 24 Hours of Daytona and the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The car was exhibited at the Enzo Ferrari Museum in Modena in 2022 for the 75th anniversary of the brand. He participated in numerous concours of elegance, including Pebble Beach.

Presented at the Paris Motor Show in 1963, the 250 LM was the berlinetta version of the 250 P prototype. The chassis and technical characteristics were similar, with some minor changes. 32 examples were built. The Ferrari 250 LM was designed for the GT category of the World Sports Prototype Championship. The lack of FIA homologation forced it to race in the prototype class. Despite this, the 250 LM became a very successful racing car.

The 3-liter V12 engine produced 320 horsepower, reaching remarkable speeds. The power of the engine was combined with excellent handling. The tubular steel frame, trim and compact body ensured stability and aerodynamics. The design, with the “flying buttresses”, was developed with the help of the wind tunnel. The Ferrari 250 LM is not just a racing car, but a true work of art.
