The simple secret to longevity has been found!

Vita gazette – Harvard University researchers have discovered the simple secret to living longer. Experts have revealed that a good night’s sleep can add years to our lives. The study proved that thanks to quality sleep, men can live five years longer and women two years longer.

The research team, which includes scientists from Harvard University School of Medicine, found that men with regular quality night sleep patterns can live almost five years longer than others. For women, this number was determined as two years. In addition, the team found that teens with better sleep habits were less likely to die early.

The study, which included data from 172,321 people with an average age of 50 and 54% women, found that following certain sleep habits can add almost five years to a man’s lifespan and about 2.5 years to a woman’s.

Participants were followed for about four years, during which 8,681 people died. Of these deaths, 30% were due to cardiovascular diseases, 24% to cancer, and 46% to other causes. Stating that there are five different factors in quality sleep, the researchers summarised these factors affecting rest with the following items:

Researchers based quality sleep on these factors:

  • Completing the ideal 7 to 8 hours of sleep per night
  • Difficulty falling asleep at most twice a week
  • Disruption of sleep at most twice a week
  • Not using any sleeping pills
  • Feeling rested after waking up at least five days a week
