Vita gazette- The most important event of the year begins in the immortal city of Rome. Due to the 17th Rome Film Festival, the cultural centers of the capital are in turmoil. Motors, spotlights and Ciak will bring cinematic winds to the capital from 13 October to 23 October. Workshops, interviews, meetings with important guests will dominate the atmosphere of Rome.

The 2022 edition of the Rome Film Festival will take place from 13 to 23 October at the Auditorium Parco della Musica which will host the main screening rooms and the long red carpet, considered one of the largest in the world. The program of events is not limited to the Auditorium, but will also involve other places and cultural realities of the Eternal City, such as the historic Giulio Cesare cinema and the MAXXI contemporary art museum. For the occasion, thanks to the new regulation, an international competition will also be introduced: the films will be judged by a jury made up of professionals from the world of cinema, culture and the arts. In parallel, there will be meetings with the public, events, special screenings and gifts.

An event that this year has an important novelty at the artistic helm of the kermesse, the presence of Paola Malanga, supported by an exceptional selection committee, and Gian Luca Farinelli, new President of the Cinema Foundation for Rome, historical director of the Cineteca of Bologna. “Continuity”, this is the key word, but also renewal, transversal openness, the desire to further explore the geographies of the visual world, underlining them extremely by themes, authors, gazes, reflections, previews, meetings and “duels”, different locations, starting from the central heart, the Auditorium Parco della Musica Ennio Morricone.

In addition to the Competition, the program of the Festival will consist of other non-competitive sections: ranging from Freestyle which will host series, video clips, films and video art, to Grand Public for the general public, special screenings, the Best of 2022 regarding the best seen. in the season, ‘History of Cinema and Retrospective’ which will present masterpieces restored to their original splendor and insights into the work. The program is enhanced by two other sections dedicated to meetings with the public: Paso Doble and Absolute Beginners, starring directors such as James Ivory, who will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award, Luc Besson, Stephen Frears, writers of the caliber of Daniel Pennac and the fresh Nobel Prize for Literature, Annie Ernaux, to which to add the always fascinating generational proposal of ‘Alice nella Città’, directed by Fabia Bettini and Gianluca Giannelli, which will have among the guests a long-awaited, Russell Crowe, who on the occasion will present the new director’s film, Poker Face, and will do a Masterclass.
